They knew this wouldn't be recieved well because it's come out days before the premiere. It's one massive step away from the last of us and towards zombie series number 4598. Feels like a big part of the world has just been thrown aside for no good reason.

Overall a highly positive review with praise given for writing (especially the 3rd episode), the production design, makeup and the casting.
After watching the first episode, I feel like TLOU is in it’s own lane and It shouldn’t even be compared to TWD. It has the potential to be just as great or better than The Walking Dead. If you’re talking about story/themes both series and their adaptations overlap in many instances.
So, the last episode of season 1 just aired for the Last of Us TV Adaptation and I wanted to talk about it. First off, having Ashley Johnson come in and play Ellie's mother was a great choice. A lot of actors can do a voice acting role at the same time as a live action role since voice acting doesn't take as much time. You can literally do it anywhere anytime. Pedro Pascal is also going to be in the last of us, and I believe he's also going to do The Mandalorian at the same time because they can just dub his voice over a stunt double.
tLAAOj. And Jesse Armstrong (who is the creator of the series and head writer) seems like the guy that doesn’t care about the award circus at all. He just wants to make good quality content. I definitely think you should watch the show, I think it’s one of the greatest series ever, up there with The Wire, Sopranos, Breaking Bad & Band of Brothers.
The last of us was clearly a well written zombie esque story, just with a more plausible cause and a believable plague. But the main focus was about the people in this hopeless narrative. No ones bothered about gays (ok to be fair some people are) but more the manner in which things are presented.
